Portal content transport between the systems

Hello,

I am trying to understand the methodology of how the Enterprise portal or any Java systems transport the objects between the landscape like Dev to QA and Prod.

How is the common shared directory / trans - designed and used in Java systems.

Please throw some lights on how this can be implemented..

Thanks,

    Hi Addy,

I assume you are referring to transporting PCD objects like iViews, Pages and Roles across different environments?

This link might be helpful for your scenario: [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/c5/56599164d0c04cb566ba0e2d7ed55c/frameset.htm]

The "Configuring Transport" section explains the different transport parameter in the Portal, including setting import/export folder across environments.

You can also use CTS to transport portal objects, but CTS is more of an add-on to the standard portal tools.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards,

    Aditya

    • Hi Addy,

NWDI and CTS+ are 2 very different things and should not be confused with each other 😊 In short,

NWDI - NW Development Insfrastructure - is a software logistics (usage type DI in your AS Java) which is mainly used to support/transport your Java development.

CTS+ or eCTS - Enhanced Change and Transport System - is a tool mainly used to handle transport requests (of ABAP, non-ABAP objects) in your landscape.

In more recent versions of NW, you can integrate NWDI and CTS+.

Please check out the Wiki pages, SAP Help and search SDN for more info/details.

      Regards,

      Dao
