OSA - Status change not allowed

Former Member

Hi,

we just upgraded to EhP4 and now are in the process of implementing the appraisal proces (Objective Setting and Appraisal).

After the final appraisal has been set to 'Completed' by the manager, we want the employee to be given the following options:

- Close approve - status set to 'Closed Approved'

- Close reject - status set to 'Closed Rejected'

- Reject - status set to 'In process' (for some minor, final textual changes requested by the EE).

The issue is that although the button 'Reject' supports a status change from 'Completed' to 'In process' (within standard SAP!!), SAP gives an error that a 'status change for 'Completed' to 'In process' is not allowed'

If I look into further help documentation regarding this error SAP gives a list of all possible status changes and here it clearly indicates that a status change from 'Completed' into 'In process' is allowed for documents using final appraisal.

Has anyone come across this error before and/or aware of possible solutions?

Thanks,

Wilfred.

PS: I searched OSS but couldn't find any relevant notes. If a relevant notes exists (which I was not able to find) any guidance toward relevant notes is also highly appreciated.

Wilfred, are you sure that the 'Reject' supports change from 'Completed' to 'In process'? I think it does not. What you could probably do is ao add 'In Process' as subsequent status for pushbutton 'Reject' in OOHAP_BASIC. Or make your own pushbutton.

Let me know if it solves your problem.

Hi,

below an extract of the SAP error message:

-

Diagnosis

The status change you want to use is not allowed.

The following status changes are possible:

..........

Completed

-> In Planning (only if objective setting {and no final appraisal or part appraisal} and no review phase is defined)

-> In Review (only if objective setting {and no final appraisal or part appraisal} and review phase is defined)

-> In Process (only if final appraisal or part appraisal is defined)

-> Approved

-> Rejected

-> Closed Approved

-> Closed Rejected

So I'm pretty convinced this should work.

Furthermore I tried this in a non-upgraded environment and here everything works okay and according to expectations (so I'm able to set status from 'Completed' to 'In process'). So I'm pretty convinced I'm trying to accomplish something within standard SAP.

Are you able to see 'In Process' in the subsequent status for the pushbutton 'Rejected' in your system?

Yep, I'm able to input the correct inbound status (Completed) and outbound status (In process) for the button REJECT, which further gives me the feeling that what I'm trying to accomplish is within SAP standard.

Only when saving SAP gives the error, which to my opinion is not valid.

Hi,

due to some unexplainable reason (without any changes to templates, HRSP's etc.) the status change 'Completed' to 'In process' now gets accepted by SAP.

So don't know what changed during the weekend but my issue is gone.

Hello Wilfred,

I am not sure if status change from "Completed" to "In Process" is allowed via the REJECT button. Once in COMPLETED status, the appriasial cycle should close and there should be no going back. However, the only alternative I see is using PHAP_ADMIN and then, change the status manually at the backend (normally by HR admin user/superusers).

Any more inputs from other Gurus will be very helpful.

Best Regards.

Karan.
