Deployment of ERP business process on Cloud computing

Computational requirement of an ERP system can be constantly fluctuating. The traditional system is distributed by separating application, presentation and database layer. The increasing demand for application layer is satisfied by installing more number of application servers. Sometimes these resources are required only for some amount of time and they may be lying redundant or at the other hand there can be times when the available resources might fall short to fulfill the system demands. In cloud computing the resources (hardware, software and support) required to host ERP system are provided on demand and the client pays as per service usage.

To use cloud computing for deploying ERP applications (not the data) certain issues such as security, availability, compliance, Integration, vendor lock-in and interoperability should be addressed. I have initiated this forum to discuss the various issues in the above implementation and and its possible architecture that can be used to address these issues, please contribute towards this by giving your valuable opinions.

There are businesses which are still operating on the SaaS model; on the contrary Business will think twice before venturing into this area. SaaS customer is not the single owner of the database. It could be co-related to the bank Locker, where the bank providing locker desk has the master key.
