Hello,

I am using Business Object XI 3.1 and created a Web Intelligence report however it is not able to display the chinese character name for some Taiwan vendors. On my backend BW 7.0, I can see the chinese characters. What could be the cause?

Any help is most appreciated.

Thank you.

Sorry but I do not think it is related to the column size.

To clarify, I am not able to display chinese characters for all Taiwanese vendors

Hi,

Please check whether you have the fonts installed in the machine where you are creating / viewing the webi report.

I created the report from my laptop.

Chinese language is already activated on my laptop and backend BW server.

Do I need to install the chinese language on BOBJ server?

It is not required to install chinese in the BOBJ server, since you are trying to view the data from the BW server.

The machine where you want are creating the webi document (your laptop) should have the chinese fonts installed. Please go to Regional and Language Options from Control Panel. Check whether the 2 checkboxes in the second tab are marked.

If yes, it means that the fonts are installed. Let me know.

Yes the chinese language is already installed and selected on my laptop and BW server.

I have also tried setting SAP_CODEPAGE=8300/8400 in BW but problem persists.

Any other ideas?

one more thing you can check.

generally we create the webi doc with oracle db, it requires the NLS_LANG to be set according to the characters in the machine where you are creating the webi document.

check this aspect, probably it might work.

I am on Oracle 10.2.

What should I set NLS_LANG to?

I presume this setting is set in the BW server?

that setting has to be done in the registry where the oracle server and oracle client are installed. then restart the BOE servers and try.

you can refer the oracle website (like http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/features/globalization/nls-lang-099431.html#_Toc110410556... for this setting.
