Hello, i would like to understand how the host pirnter and destination host work which are configured in spad (spool administration): Output Device, host printer and destination host.
I know that Output device is the name of my printer, i am using unix and i know that i have to configure a unix queue with the same name, that means, if my printer is named printerone on unix i have to configure the queue as printerone.
I need to delete printers configured that are not being used in SAP and in unix queue.
I need to understand how the host priinter and destination host works. please explain me.
sample, if ip address of printer "printerone" is: 180.23.25.24 and it contains and dns printerone.mysite.com , please explain me what host printer mean and what destination host means if i know that a have a queue in unix named "printerone" and ip address is 180.23.24.25 for the following configuration.
Output Device: printerone
Host printer: printerone
Destination Host: localhost
Output Device: printerone
Host printer: other-thing
Destination Host: localhost
Output Device: printerone
Host printer: other-thing
Destination Host: other-thing
Output Device: printerone
Host printer: nothing
Destination Host: localhost
Output Device: printerone
Host printer: nothing
Destination Host: nothing
thanks, skystars.
Hello Sky,
In Windows :
Output device is printer's share name
Host printer is printer's name
Destination host is IP address or name of that PC on which printer is connected.
If printer is network printer then no need to give printer's share name only IP address will work.
Above will work if the printer is connected to the PC in the network(LAN) and printer will be connected to it and Also SAPLPD should be running on that PC.
Output Device: printer's share name
Host printer: printer's name
Destination Host: IP Address or name of that PC i.e. host.
For Unix :not much idea
Hope this will clears you up to certain extent
