Each portal AS connected to different systems

Hello,

I have the following question from one of my colleague :

We have one portal with two AS (loadbalanced through SAP Webdispatcher), and one java SRM with 2 AS also. Is it possible to connect EP AS 1 to SRM AS 1 and EP AS 2 to SRM AS 2 ? So we will do a kind of connection balancing....

For me it is not possible because the connection configuration depends of a global parameter.

The best solution (which is our target) is to do loadbalancing with a Webdispatcher dedicated to SRM java but we encountered some problems...

thanks for your help

Thomas

    Hi,

    thanks for your answer,

the problems we encountered are based on our network and the loadbalancer we used in front of the webdispatchers. We only add one webdispatcher, it will be a SPOF so we will install 2 WD with an Alteon to loadbalance the workload.

If the portal is connected to an ABAP server (ECC for example) is it possible to use the logon group capabilities of the message server of ECC to loadbalanced users between the different AS.

    best regards,

    Thomas

    Hello,

yes we will be in this case "High Availability with Parallel Web Dispatchers" and we are aware of the restrictions. It's really at the network level that we are encountering poblems and limitations. It's not due to SAP

Please can you try to answer to my question about ABAP.

If the portal is connected to an ABAP server (ECC for example) is it possible to use the logon group capabilities of the message server of ECC to loadbalance users between the different AS without any webdispatcher

    Hi,

your portal runs on 2 AS Java, but they are not 2 portals. The system landscape of the portal is the same on both AS Java. So you cannot connect AS1 to SRM1 and AS2 to SRM2.

SAP offers load balancing and logon groups to assign users to a specific application server. Web Dispatcher also does support logon groups. With this configuration, you can enforce that user A will always use AS1 and SRM1.

is to do loadbalancing with a Webdispatcher dedicated to SRM java but we encountered some problems...

    What are these problems?

    br,

    Tobias
