Auto schedule operation to start on next shift if not enough available t

Scenario:

I'm using PP-PI ..4.6c & I'm having trouble sorting out the below issue:

If I have only 2 hours left on a evening shift & the system has scheduled a production operation to start within that 2 hour period but the operation actually takes 4 hours to complete & cannot be stopped (at the end of the shift) after 2 hours & restarted . In reality, the operation would only be started on the morning shift as I have no night shift. Now the operation is behind schedule as I did not start it when scheduled.

How do I get scheduling to ignore the available 2 hours if the production operation is longer than that ? I've tried the distribution keys available in the work centre but with no joy ..or it this dependent on Capacity Levelling??

    In the strategy profile, check the button Strategy Profile in CM21 transaction, there is a Period Split indicator. You can select "Shift". Then the you can select to "Op Completed in Period Split" or "Always Adhere to period split"
