Problem with SAP workbook saved on Server in Excel 2007

Hi,

We have just upgraded to Excel 2007 from Excel 2000. We are still using BEx 3.x with our upgraded 7.x BI environment.

If I run a query and try to save workbook on my local machine(defualt .XLSX format). it works fine next time I open it. But when i save workbook on BI Server using SAP BEx menu it doesn't work next time i try to open it. BEx opens workbook but it's all binary numbers.

On other side if i change my local Excel option default setting to save workbooks in .XLS format they work fine on both local PC and Server side environment.

So the question is when new default format .XLST is used workbooks only works locally but not when saved on server.

Does anybody has any idea ????

Thanks

The note provided by Luis will fix the issue.

Excel 2000 seems not supported for a long time.

As suggestion to avoid new issues, (specially performance issue), update the SAPGUI and BI Addons to latest version.

Thanks

Take a look at SAP Note 1052761... It might help you...

Hi,

note 1052761 indeed provides the explanation and the solution you already found on your own. The Excel 2007 file formats are not supported with BEx 3.5. Thus you have to set the save as filetype to "XLS".
