Issue with Exporting to PDF appears to be saving Automatically

Currently under SAP Business One Version 2007A SP:01 and PL:09

On Exporting any report or document using the PDF button on the Toolbar

Open's up PDF viewer showing the document, but also appears to automatically save a copy into the path of the "Pictures Folder" Under Administration-> System Initialisation -> General settings -> Path. Is there any reason why? I can see nothing in documentation or Help files to explain as to why. This does represent an issue for the customer as:

a) Bitmap folder that they use for the path of storing pictures is becoming quite large

b) The Bitmap file is available to all users therefore an issue if managers etc have exported sensitive documents

I am sure there is an explanation to this so any assistance greatly appreciated.

Dear Evans,

You might need to check the print preferences settings on the system. This is available from Administration -> System Initialization -> Print Preferences.

Check this out for the documents that get printed as images and get stored in the Bitmaps folder. Check under the 'general' tab whether the check box for printing documents as images is ticked. If yes, untick this. Then check the settings under the 'Per Document' tab - you will need to change the settings per each document.

Unfortunately no documents are ticked Print text as Picture also the same thing happens if you export report to PDF als.

I have accepted that this is the way the system works but I can still see no logic as to why it does what it does.

Hi Roger,

I logged this issue in Product Development forum some time ago as a major security issue. Even when just previewing reports , including sensitive financial reports, a copy is saved and becomes visible to all users. If yoiu remove the bitmaps path, you can't produce marketing documents with logos embedded!.

Do feel free to find the thread & add to it in the Product Development forum, as the issue has been around since the introduction of the 2007 version. The more voices, the more likely someone might address the issue..

Hi Roger,

This is by system design. PDF files are treated as picture file in B1. Especially true if you need to fax them.
