External number range for Equipment in Asset integration

Hi,

We are using integration of Asset to create automatic creation of Equipment master record.

Configuration is working fine and Equipment is getting created when Asset is created when Number range for Equipment is internal.

When we change the number range of Equipment to External, it is giving Error ITOB205

'Error during internal number assignment - Exception: &1'

'INTERVAL_NOT_FOUND'.

Is there anyway to give external number range for Equipment so that Asset and Equipment number, both has same number.
