SMD auto installed isJ98XX where SM7.0 End-to-End doc mention SMDA<XX>

We have just installed SM EHP1 in HP-UX Ora 10g. We notice there is /usr/sap/SMD installed there.

Questions:

1) Is this automatically installed by sapinst ?

2) I use the master password to suinto smdadm but not successful? What is the default password?

3) Inside SM7.0 End-to-End doc it mention that

"New instance name dedicated to the Diagnostics Agent: SMDA<XX> instead of J<XX>"

However I only find /usr/sap/SMD/J98. There is no SMDA98. What are the difference?

4) Do I need to installed SMDA98 Diagnostics Agent separately?

Thanks

Hello Steven Foo

It'll not be easy troubleshoot the issue without the log files. In the smdSystem.o.log can you something similar to this log below ?

We have just installed SM EHP1 in HP-UX Ora 10g. We notice there is /usr/sap/SMD installed there.

Questions:

1) Is this automatically installed by sapinst ? Yes, if you're not Solution Manager Diagnostics, you can uninstall this instance.

2) I use the master password to suinto smdadm but not successful? What is the default password? init1234

3) Inside SM7.0 End-to-End doc it mention that "New instance name dedicated to the Diagnostics Agent: SMDA<XX> instead of J<XX>" However I only find /usr/sap/SMD/J98. There is no SMDA98. What are the difference?

JXX => Solution Manager Diagnostics Agent 7.0X

SMDAXX => Solution Manager Diagnostics Agent 7.11

4) Do I need to installed SMDA98 Diagnostics Agent separately?

You need uninstall and install version SMDAXX if you have Solution Manager SP20 or a higher release.

We have uninstalled the SMD 7.0x and then installed the 7.11 agent (since our SM is at level SP23). Installation was sucessfull.<br>

However going into http://<server FQDN>:8000/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tcsmdnavigation/SmdNavigation,<br>

Setup Wizard for SM instance, there we see that a message "The SMD Agent 'sapmon' hasn't been found!" appear.<br>

Also we tried to go into Introscope Agent, there a message "Failed to connect to server: sapmon - Please make sure SMD Agent is up and running" ?' appear<br>

I look at the os level and see that the agent is running<br>

Any ideas to get that running correctly?
