Hi experts,
I have a question regarding to multiple level configurable material (configurable material in configurable material)
Also, i am using class hierarchy function.
The case will be as below :
1. -Parent: Configurable Material A ( with variant class A)
-Child: Configurable Material B (with variant class B)
2. Class A also contains Class B, which means all characteristics in Class B are inherited into Class A
3. There are Material Variant A001 (for material A) and B001 (for material B).
Also A001 and B001 share same some characteristic values, since all characteristics in Class B are inherited into Class A (so I chose those inherited characteristics as same values for both A001 and B001)
Now, during sales order creation (VA01) or configuration selection (CU50),
if I use Configurable Material A, and only set the characteristic values of Class B, is that possible Material Variant B001 can be proposed??
From what i did, only Material Variant A001 was proposed...I am wondering if i missed some master data setting, or it is just standard function does not work for this situation.
Thank you

Hi Wudi Gao,
What have youassigned in B001 in MRP3 view Configurable material A001 or B001?, If you assigned Class B to B001 and if you try to replicate same in va01 with Class A the system will not propose B001. And If you assign a material variant with Class A and trying of same value of B001 system will propse only A classes. Simple you check MRP3 view what have you assigned that material will be taking. It will be more confusing to understand. Try to understand. VC is like that.

Hi Wudi,
Sorry for the delay. In my case, both are configurable materials. I have added B's characteristics into A; also the BOM of A contains dependency to derive B.
So, when i go to CU50 and execute for A, the configuration results will show A and further drill down to B.
If your configuration profile (CU42), you should set BOM as "Multilevel". The default will be "None".
Thanks
Prem

Hi,
Can you check the BOM of A ?
I have configured similar scenario, but without material variants. CU50 result / VA01 will propose B, based on the BOM setup of A.
Thanks
Prem
