SAPGUI 7.60 upgrade from 7.40 issue

Hello,

testing out the new release of SAPGUI 7.60, upgrade from client 7.40 from using the SAP installation server and single file installer.

Installs ok, but when launching a connection from the SAP Logon, there is a popup "SAP GUI Input history migration" "Please wait until the SAP GUI input history database has been migrated to the new format"

Cannot go on until I acknowledge the alert, and after connecting to the instance, every transaction it will display this alert and not go on until acknowledging it.

Any ideas ? I guess deleting input history might solve the problem, but this cannot be done for thousands of SAP Logons. Would like to know if someone has had similar issue and more importantly how to prevent it from happening ?

Thank you.

Vincent.

Good news, bug was identified by support and should be corrected in patch 2.

SAP note :

2788936 - History: Migration's message box is not automatically closed after the migration from AccessDb to SQLite took place and ended successfully

Thank you everyone for the help.

Hello Vincent,

It seems that you may not have rebooted after install.

If a subsequent reboot does not solve the issue on your client, remove and reinstall, then reboot the client OS and test again.

Hello Jude,

I did reboot several times, no changes.

Tried again SAP Logon 7.60 clean install => OK (obviously, as there is no history)

Tried again SAP Logon 7.40 clean install (no launching of SAP session to prevent filling history) and upgrade to 7.60 => OK

Tried again the upgrade from 7.40 (with history) to 7.60 => NOK same issue again, rebooted and all, same issue.

Looking at D:\user01\Application Data\SAP\SAP GUI\History

there are 2 files : SAPHistoryuser01.db and SAPHistoryuser01.mdb - deleted SAPHistoryuser01.mdb and after that the problem disappears.

So there is something going on after the upgrade, it seems it cannot transform the old history to the new history. But this is a big issue, as most of the installs we need to perform are upgrades from 7.40.

Hello partner,s I had the same problem and it was resolved by creating a new key in the registry.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAPGUI Front\SAP Frontend Server\LocalData\ImportedToSQLite type Dword (32 bit) with value 1(decimal)

Saludos.

Hello Jude,

made some actions asked by support, adding manually the following registry key allows to circumvent the issue :

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAPGUI Front\SAP Frontend Server\LocalData\ImportedToSQLite type Dword (32 bit) with value 1(decimal)

But the root cause is not solved, as to why is this key not written in the registry to begin with ? Still waiting for an answer on this regarding this from the support.

I'll perform the actions you gave me, and let you know.

OK, one more thing, capture a "LocalDB" and "Automation" trace from ALT+F12 -> Options -> Traces

and upload either to the message or directly here.

Hello Vincent? Is this the log from the client?

It shows

16:03:44.829 NwSapsEngn 1 SapSetup Workstation Engine Library Unloaded
16:03:44.830 NwSapSetup 1 ------------------------------------------------------------
16:03:44.830 NwSapSetup 1 Return-Code: 129
16:03:44.830 NwSapSetup 1 ------------------------------------------------------------
16:03:44.847 NwSapSetUI 1 SapSetup UI Library Unloaded
16:03:44.848 NwSapsAtlC 1 SapSetup ATL Common Library Unloaded

Which means reboot required. An error-free installation shows Return-Code: 0

I agree Jude, and like I said in my previous message, the reboot was done in 2 ways :

- from the dialog box asking for reboot => which I said "Reboot Now" - PC reboots and yet problem still present

- reboot from the start menu also performed just in case, same results

Either way, I still have the issue.

By default, SAP installs on the C:\ drive, this this the case here?

Can you please upload the sapsetup.log file to this reply so we can take a look?

I performed again all the same steps, for the same results - and performed the reboots as requested by the installer and also manually via windows start menu.

I cannot attach the file as it's 5mb in size and cannot put zip files either. You can find the file in the SAP incident I've opened : 190890 / 2019
