Issues in installing SAP NWDS

Hi guys,

I am trying to install SAP NWDS

First i installed jdk (jdk-1_5_0_11-windows-i586-p.exe)

[http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp]

Then, i installed CE711SP1_IDE_SDN-Preview,

I am getting the error as,

You have to use a JDK as a JVM instead of a JRE.

Can anyone provide the proper link for JDK.

B'cos the above link also mentions it as JDK. i am confused with it.

Hi Santosh

Link for JDK is fine, you need put JDK directory not JRE during the installtion when it ask.

Check the JDK directory in C:\ or C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files\Java.

Hi guys,

Thanks a lot,

Now, after choosing the right jdk folder, nwds is installed.

After installing nwds, according to steps mentioned in install guide, i need to configure, update manager,

13. The update manager is

automatically invoked when

NWDS starts up. The update

manager asks you to select the

folder of the local site. The

local site is the folder in

which the

NWDS_platform.zip file was

extracted (see step 4 of this

installation). Navigate to this

folder and click on OK to

proceed.

But, it is not invoking automatically when i restart nwds.

Can u guide me to manually start update manager.thanks.

Another issue,

our xi system is on 3.0.

when i installed jdk-1_5_0_11-windows-i586-p.exe for nwds, IR & ID components are not working in jdk 5 version.

how to rectify it.....

Hi Santosh

Please check this document will helps to install the NWDS. [Click Here|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b057d7e3-b89e-2b10-1e9e-c426e967f8e1]

You need to extract the zip file NWDS_platform.zip in 4th Step then it will automatically invoke in 13th Step. please check it again and remove installed NWDS completly from your system and then try again for fresh installation of NWDS.
