Is it possible to build a Universe on a SAS Data Set? I have looked through the connection middleware options and I didn't see a SAS option.
If it is possible how would we do it? We are using XIR3SP2 enterprise.
Hi,
You can build universes on top of SAS but you have to use first Data Federator that is the only way build universes on top of SAS.
So you have to create a Data Federator driver on top of SAS and then build a universe on the Data Federator driver.

Didier, thanks for the quick response.
We do have Federator, but don't currently have it set up. Once we get Federator setup, within Universe connection wizard will a new SAS middleware option be available for JDBC connection in Designer? Currently there isn't any option offered for SAS JDBC connection in Universe. Or would we use the Generic JDBC Datasource JDBC Drivers?
Hello,
there wil be no connectivity for SAS shown in Universe designer.
This is the workflow:
- with Data Federator you build a project (catalog) using SAS as a datasource
- in Universe Designer you create a new connection to the Data Federator server (using its JDBC or ODBC driver) which points to the new project (catalog) you just created.
Hope that it helps
