Desktop Intelligence Download and Other Questions

Dear Experts, I have few questions regarding Desktop Intelligence. Kindly answers them as it is very important for to provide this info to my client:

1) What the latest release of Desktop Intelligence (I'm aware of XI R2 version)? Where can I download it from (as I did not see in BO Downlaod area)? Is there a separate version for Server and Client machine?

2) Does it come with 32-bit and 64-bit version separately? Actually I wanted to see if this was compatible with Windows 7 on client machine?

3) can I create Dashboard from DeskI? Please guide me here?

Desktop Intelligence (Deski) is part of the larger BusinessObjects suite of products. It is not available or useable outside of a BusinessObjects Enterprise or BusinessObjects Edge environment. It is available in both the client and server installs for these products.

Deski can be used in an "offline" mode where it doesn't require a connection to BO, however you have to have connected to BO at least once in order to use Deski this way.

Also, rumor has it that Deski will probably be going away at some point as most of it's features are now available in Web Intelligence (Webi.)

Thanks Dell for your answers. That means that DeskI (which is a part of BO XI 3.1 SP3 package) will support 64-bit Windows 7 as I read that i nteh supported platform document

Also can you guide me on how to build simple dashboard using DeskI and WebI reports (withour using XCelsius)?

Do you have a universe (or more than one) created for your data? If not, that's your first step, although I HIGHLY SUGGEST taking the Universe Design class before you get too far into that - there are a number of challenges that you may run into that aren't obvious up front.

In your report, you then create one or more queries based on the universe(s). From there you can display the data on the report, create graphs, etc. Different types of data can be placed on different parts of the page.

It's difficult to answer this type of general "how to" question in a forum. Once you start getting into it and have more specific questions, folks here should be able to help.

Hi,

Desktop Intelligence latest release was BOXI R3 only as SAP release 4 which is BOXIR4 does not have desktop Intelligence.

Yes Dashboard reports can be created using Desktop Intelligence Tool.
