Normal Correction flow & Transport of copies

Former Member

Hi,

I am performing following steps for Normal Correction. But when I first time schedule the imoprt job, nothing is moved to Quality system.

u2022 Action u2018Set to In developmentu2019. Status changes to u2018In Developmentu2019.

u2022 Perform action u2018Create Transport Requestu2019. Transport Request (ID6K900342) created.

u2022 Change the Maintenance Cycle phase to u2018Development with Releaseu2019

u2022 Developer completes the work & releases the Task in satellite system

u2022 Action: u2018Test Transportu2019. Creates Transport of copies (ID6K900344)

u2022 Schedule the import job. ( But after executing also nothing will be moved to Quality)

u2022 Action: u2018Complete Developmentu2019. System creates another new Transport of copies (ID6K900347) for Original Request.

u2022 Schedule the Import job. ( But after executing also nothing will be moved to Quality)

What could be the reason. both the TP copies are in queue only, nothing is moved to quality.

Regards

PK

Hi PK,

In normal correction, when you select action "Test Transport" or "Complete Development" a ToC will be created in QAS. This is the standard behavior, so in this way ChaRM this will allow you to check the changes before release the TR into QAS system. Once you have any inconsistencies you can go back to 'In development', correct that and test again.

The point is that if you release the TR directily to QAS, then imported the TR into the QAS system, this TR will be automatically placed the PRD import buffer and you cannot go back if the changes are not OK.

So, after you have tested the changes in QAS (with ToC) and you select the action "Confirm Successful Test", indeed the TR will be moved to QAS.

Hi Fernando,

Thanks.

The ToC for actions "Test Transport" or "Complete Development" will be created in Development & not in QAS. Once the ToCs are created we schedule them for import, But after scheduling nothing will happen( I mean to say nothing is moved to QAS. then what is the use of ToC, why we are scheduling to QAS, when we can test it in Development & move to QAS using original TP). I am not getting how ToC is used in normal correction.

Hi PK,

Let me try to explain:

NC => 80000001

1. Create TR

XXXK0001 (Original TR)

2. "Test Transport" or "Complete Development"

XXXK0001 (Original TR) -> still not released

XXXK0002 (ToC- copy of XXXK0001)-> is created in DEV

3. Import TRs to QAS (from task list)

XXXK0001 (Original TR) -> still not released

XXXK0002 (ToC) -> is moved to QAS

4. Now the changes are in QAS, but is not placed in the PRD import queue. So, you can test it with no risk.

5. If you have problem, go back to 'In development'

Correct the problem in XXXK0001

and go to step 2 again.

6. If the changes are OK in QAS

- Select 'successful tested'

XXXK0001 (Original TR) -> is released

7. Import to QAS

XXXK0001 imported in QAS and automatically placed in PRD import queue.

8. Import to PRD

-

The ToC is used to avoid import an inconsistent TR into PRD system, because once it has been imported in QAS, the same will be available to import into PRD, without any test.

Hello there,

Fernando's reply is very detailed, but I thought I might step in and give you

https://websmp201.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000872582009E/index.htm , in the second slide there is a graphical view of the flow of the standard normal correction.

Dear Fernando,

Many thanks for the detailed explanation.

Actually in step3 which you mentioned- "XXXK0002 (ToC) -> is moved to QAS"( This is not happening in my case).

Actually ToC appears in QAS import queue, but after shedule time also changes are not reflecting in QAS( means import to QAS is not happening for ToC)

I am doing this Normal Correction cycle for IDES satellite system which is linked with Solman Dev.

I will check in Prod.

Thanks for the information in details.

Hi PK,

1. We have a role which the users should have in satellite systems in order for them to be able to move the TOC to quality system. (something like a development charm user along with the tusted system access role)

2. Have you recently undergone SP upgrade or something like that? One of the note had caused this kind of issue when we had upgraded the system. I believe it was 1317068.

Hi Sneha,

Can you check & inform the which roles you used for Normal Correction in Satellite system.

The note which you have mentioned is related to Retrofit.

SP level here is 23. Its a new installation we did 2 months back

Hi PK,

The role is a custom role which reads as devcharmuser. If you need any further details, Please let me know.
