Batch Management in QM

Hello Guys,

As I need to implement batch management shortly, I gone thru the docs in forum and online and find out the configs which needs to be done. I was jus wondering what would be the exact steps to process in BM.

Do we need to use batch management only if we use process orders or even for production orders ? I assume, for all the process industries should use process orders with BM...but not sure even they could use production orders with BM

It would be great if anyone could tell the exact process(steps) in BM as I dont know wht to do after the configuration.

Hii,

In BM, when the inspection lot is created against good receipt of purchased order we can track the vendor. As Good receipt against a Production order . so that time we can track production order No reference to the batch , the same fert material we sold to the customer that time batch number plays important role .

Master data setting:

1. Create required Characteristics which would be Inspected. - CT04

2. Create a Batch Class of type 022 and assign the characteristic to the class. CL01

3. Now assign the Class to the Material master classification view.

4. Assign Inspection Type "01" for Raw materials and "04" for Finished Products in the QM View - Inspection Setup.

5. Create MIC using QS21, and assign the Class characteristics.

6. Create Inspection Plan for the material - to the operation assign the MIC's - QP01.

Thanks lokesh... Once I do the GR, Inspection lot will get created. So once I made the UD, how it goes to batch and where can I track the same...also when the Batch number will get created ?

Hi

Yes with production order also you can have batch management.

This batch no. for Prod. order can be created during release, or can be auto assigned depending upon your setting for BM. Now as soon as a batch is created, you can see it in MSC3N. Depending upon your setting for 03 and 04 lot origin, inspection lot will be created in QA32. If you have mentioned setting as per suggestions in previous posts, your inspection lot results will be transferred automatically to batch. You can see them in classification tab of MSC3N.

To make sure that results are copied to batches from lots, tick the check box for "batch valuation w/o mat spec" in QCC0-basic settings-settings @ plant level---insp lot completion.

Hii,

Sry for Topog'cal mistake in my prev post for "023" for batch class. Generally Batch no will get generated on Production order release or creation depends opron config.For the same batch no Inspection lot will get generated and RR can be carried out. In QA32 screen you can see the Inspection Lot ref with Batch no. For Tracking the batch goto QALS table ref I/P PREUFLOS --> O/P Field name CHARG (Batch no).

For GR Inspction (PO) , batch number will get generated at making GR. Since MIC are created w.r.t Class, Results value get transfered to batch auotmatically (Check config).
