We where told that BPC security is different from SAP ECC, we are not thrilled with this because of the over head associated with maintaining security at two places. Does any one have an input into how this issue was addressed at your site.

Thanks.

BPC security is indeed distinct from ECC and even from BW authorizations. This is by design to provide the ability for local departments, like Finance, to administer BPC without much IT involvement.

The BPC security framework: teams, member access profiles, and task profiles are setup in the BPC administration client and can be transported from one system to another. Assignments to the the teams and profile is not transportable and iis done directly in each system.

Some organizations use the typical SAP security administrators (ECC/BW) to setup the BPC security, other organizations allow the BPC administrator to manage it. It really comes down to the organization preference.

Look for a future How-to Guide to be posted here to SDN that will provide a mass maintenance tool for moving the security setup from one system to another. This should make it a little easier.
