Printing of data get distorted when changing printer driver.

Hello,

We have designed a Report using Crystal version 7 for a desktop application. This report is used to print the data On a "Pre printed Format stationery". When we designed this report, the printing of the data on the preprinted format paper was perfect on the HP LaserJet 8000 Series PCL Printer driver.

However, When we changed the Printer driver,( Ex: printing the report using some other printer like Laserjet 1022) the printing get distorted. i.e. the alignment of the data get distorted and it does not print on the same position where it was supposed to print earlier on the pre printed format paper .This results in a lot of alignment issues and each time we change the printer than we have no option but to reformat the report again as per the new printer driver.

Is there a way to address this issue. i.e. irrespective of the printer we use while designing the report, the data should not get distorted when the printer is changed.

Thank you all,

Venkat

Hi Venkat,

Design your reports using the same printer. HP doesn't guarantee all of the outputs will be identical from driver to driver. Margins will change which will cause the designer to "fit" the page differently and render the fonts accordingly.

Install the HP 1022 drivers and set the port to LPT 1 and then Pause the printer for testing. What you see on screen should be what you get when printing.

Thank you
