Hi,
I am updating our sandbox CE 7.11 SPS4 system to CE 7.20 SPS2.
I have downloaded the CEUPDATEMANAGER file for CE 7.20 from service marketplace: CEUPDATEMANAGER01_0-20005861.SAR (for AIX).
After extracting this file in kernel directory, I started the ceupdatemanager using root user. Then, I selected the instance to be
updated, entered Administrator password and then on next screen enetered password for sceadm. Immediately aftere this, the gui screen gets hung and its status bar shows:
unknown message ID (ce.updater.checkingFile) with parameter
(s): /usr/sap/SCE/J10/j2ee/cluster/apps/sap.com/core.lyt/developmentserver/res/skins/neutral/images/chart_line_overlaid3d.gif
Also, sapinst_dev.log shows the following warning:

Please help.

No solution. Just wait for the screen to move forward.

Hi,
i´m getting the same error. The note does not help, because at this time with CE 7.11 there is no JVM 6.
Does somebody knows a solution for the problem above.
regards,
Alexander

Hi guys,
There are several message about this already, some that reached development support.
You need to download the SAP JVM Patch Collection 42 (see note 1502088)
The relevant patch text is:
o AIX: Fixed deadlock if file descriptor is closed while being used
in an accept() OS call.
Please apply this SAP JVM Version to your system, per note
1025085 - How to manually patch the SAPJVM
In all these cases customers were going from 7.11 to 7.20.

Hi,
Well, I moved past this problem simply by waiting on that hung screen. I realized from the status bar that the tool was, for some reason, scanning my filesystem for somthing, specially under /usr/sap/SID/J*/j2ee. After almost an hour, the scanning got over and I got a popup asking me to click on OK or Cancel. If I click Cancel, the next screen appears and I am able to move forward.
This has happened for every system that I have patched, Dev, QA, Test, etc. Also, one system had 2 additional app servers and in that, the scanning took close to 3 hrs. Strange thing.
I am not sure how this is related to the note above. Any info you have about that?
I would soon be updating my CE system from 7.20 SPS2 to SPS3. Hope it does not cause the same thing then also.
Regards,
Shitij
Hi Shitiji,
There is a new note that has just been release and will solve the issue for you:
1504655- Wily can't be loaded with SAP JVM 6 under AIX
Applying the note should resolve this issue.
