UWL not receiving Notifications in the Portal?

Hello All,

I am looking for some direction. I have never configured the UWL before, so I  have done everything through Research and documentation. The problem that I am having is that my UWL is not receiving any Notification from our Workflows?

*) In the UWL adminstration, I have the Webflowconnector turned on and is testing good.

*) We have a uwl_service setup in User Administration and assigned to group Everyone.

*) We have the uwl_service user name in transaction SU01 with the roles 'SAP_BC_BMT_WFM_UWL_END_USER', 'SAP_BC_UWL_END_USER', 'SAP_BC_UWL_SERVICE'.

*) The Workflows are standard PM/ECM workflows

Is there something else that I need to turn on?

***ECC 6.0  with Enhancement Pack 4****** Portal 701*******

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

It is important to discuss here which type of notifications that you are looking to display. The notifications for the UWL that require minimal additional configuration are KMC notifications. In order to use backend workflow notifications you will need to implement the SONIC connector. I will provide the note which mentions this connector for you:

945484 How to receive office notifications in a universal worklist

Many people are confused about this and the notifications that are 'preconfigured' are KMC notifications.

I know that there was someone else who has written a blog in regards to getting notifications into the UWL without the SONIC connector: Please see the blog here:

Hello Beth,

Please see below your questions.

It sounds like there are a few different issues going on. 1) First you will need to ensure that you have set up the backend system correctly. To do this you will need to make an entry in the System Landscape directory on the portal. Test this system. Tests should pass on the connectors in order for the UWL to work.

System Landscape is setup and tests good

2)Next, check that you have maintained the RFC destination according to note number: 1133821. Please check this note.

Went through this note and setup RFC and it tested good also

3) Checked that you have setup the connector in the UWL administration. The connector should be set up and registered.

Setup the WEBFlowConnector-"Item type registration was successful for the following systems:-<system.alias> (WebFlowConnector) "

****Delta Pull*****

If you are running the delta pull please ensure the following:

Any user can run the background jobs, but this user must have the following Authorization:

SAP_BC_BMT_WFM_UWL_END_USER

SAP_BC_UWL_END_USER

SAP_BC_UWL_SERVICE

What are the settings set up as on the connector for the

Delta Pull Channel Refresh Period (in Seconds):

Delta Pull Channel Snapshot Refresh Period (in Minutes):

Delta Pull Channel refresh period in seconds should be set to 60

And the delta pull channel snapshot refresh period should be null....do not put a value in this parameter.

If I do not have to use the Delta Pull, then I prefer not to. Is this required now?

Please check these items and let me know if you have followed these steps. Also does the SAME exact user in the backend have tasks in SBWP? If not, then there will be no tasks visible in the UWL.

My test user has documents in their SAP inbox, it just will not display in the UWL.

Is there any R/3 configuration that has to be setup for this to work? Does the Iview name/id need to be different then the sap delivered iview?

Thank you,

Mike

Thank you Beth for your reply,

We are in the process of implementing Performance Management & ECM; we are using 9 standard Workflow templates for these modules.

Currently, I have all 4 tabs (tasks, alerts, notifications, tracking) on the UWL which nothing is showing up in any of the tabs.

Does this help?

Also, I read some instructions on using the delta pull mechanism which says to make the batch owner of that job the 'uwl_service'. But, the uwl_service was generated in R/3 automatically, with one of the portal configuration steps, and created it as a communication user. With that Id being a communication user, it will not let us use this user to run batch jobs.

Thanks for all your help,

Mike
