SPM 2.1 installation on VMWare

Hi,

We are planning to install SPM 2.1 on VMWare for internal training and poc purposes. The same server will also host other NW based software (BPC etc) in different instances..

Is this recommended or not? What are the issues/challenges to anticipate with installing SPM on VMWare environement.

Thanks,

Vivek

    Hi Vivek,

We have done this in the past internally and have used it successfully for training. As Rajesh mentioned make sure you size the system accordingly. I am sure you are planning to have both the ABAP & JAVA stack on the guest OS to install SPM. Its the JAVA stack that pages a lot and uses a lot more resources. So I would recommend you to have a machine no less dual core processor and 4GB memory (5GB - 6GB preferable.)

    Regards,

    Rohit

    Hi Vivek

There is no reason why you cannot do what you have proposed. Just make sure that your VM has enough allocated resources, based on the sample data set that you would load into it and the number of concurrent users. Here are some links to help you with that
