DB4 DBSL direct driver XDN problem

Former Member

Hello,

I have a ERP 6.0 production system on V5R6M0.

Kernel patch level is 242. There are 6 instances on the same host.

We changed system's DBSL driver from XDA to direct driver XDN according to the Note 1257635 - DB4 DBSL Direct Drive for DB2 for IBM i (DB2 400).

After a while some jobs (named like CL_...==CP, eg:CL_SWF_CNT_FACTORY_SHMEM) got stucked in the system. Some updates about USR02 table got stucked. These jobs occupied all WPs. Response time increased heaviliy. We changed XDN to XDA back again and system ran as it was before.

For example, when try to see the details of one of SM50 records, system started running CL_AS4_API====================CP report and it did not finish.

Can there be any reason for these stucked jobs?

Could you help, please?

Kind Regards,

Greetings,

Sorry for your troubles...

Unfortunately we can't say at this point the reason CL_SWF_CNT_FACTORY_SHMEM causes the work-process to hang. We would really like to get on to you system to analyze. Due to your performance comment, I suspect the work-processrd were using up CPU cycles...

We do know that since patch 242, there have been fixes to prevent looping when work-processes are terminated with cancel (the latest LIB_DBSL patch is #266) : some of your symptoms resemble this error.

Please open an OSS ticket and ask that it be assigned to the BC-DB-DB4 queue.

Many thanks,

... Eric

Hello Eric,

I am aware of the kernel patch. Unfortunately for some reasons I could not apply the new patch 254 and dbls patch 266.

Strange thing is this;

We have another SAP system on this host and we changed the driver to XDN for this system also. It has the same patch level of kernel and dbsl. Bu this system works fine with XDN.

This weekend I will change the kernel and dbsl patch level and try to change dbsl driver to XDN again.

I will write the result.

As I said to Jan, I wrote a message to SAP also. It is being analyzed.

Thank you for your interest.

Hello Jan,

Yes, I opened a message using BC-DB-DB4 component.

It is being investigated now by SAP Golbal Support - SAP on IBM i (iSeries) team.

I will write the solution here as soon as it is solved.

Thank you for your interest.

Hello Yuksel.

Have you opened a customer message at SAP for this issue? I talked to the responsible developer for the XDN database driver today and most likely we will not be able to solve this here in the forum but need more information. Please use component BC-DB-DB4 for the customer message.

Best regards,
