Remove 'value check' function module in CT04

Hi,

I see a lot of questions posted about how to *add* a value check function module in CT04 (change characteristic) but I don't find any guidance on how to *remove* the assigned function module once we no longer want to validate a characteristic's values.

In CT04 on the 'Values' tab, I want to remove the function module listed there for checking values. When I clear the field however, SAP throws error message 007(C1), "Function module [blank] does not exist". It seems I'm forced to keep the entry.

Can someone please advise on how to remove function module validation--I know I could just comment out the contents of the function itself and leave it assigned in CT04 but I'd rather not leave a defunct function assigned there.

Cheers,
Amy

Hi Ami,

Just a guess (have zero characteristics at the moment to play with): did you try to remove also the flag "Additional values" when removing the function?

Hi Simone,

Yes, SAP also prevents unchecking of that field with an error. I tried both clearing out each of the fields separately and also clearing them together-- all attempts resulted in an error.

Hi Amy,

As far as I know, the button 'Other Value Check' remains available until the characteristic (and its values) has not been used (in configurations, in dependencies, etc.).

Once used, the button is greyed-out.

Removing the usage of the characteristic's values (if possible...) will set it back as available. And, when available, the function can be removed.

Cheers,

Flavio

Thanks for the reply Flavio. The characteristic is in use so we're not able to remove it.
