SCEM Info

Hello everyone,

I found Kevin's book at SAPPHIRE and raced through this on the way home. This is an exciting area for SAP but it seems to be kinda quiet. I've scoured ERP Genie and SAP's site and can't seem to get more info on training courses and additional examples. Maybe I'm lost in all the info on SDN.

Does anyone know of the course code for this on SAP training - is there any training offered? Since the SAP Press book on it comes out this month but in German, I am wondering if it is too new to have training on it just yet.

Any info to help get working on this would be appreciated. I've got a new ECC 6.0 EHP3 install, but following the book and info here I have not gotten very far in setting up examples. [edit] I just found the PDF overview showing EHP4 as a starting point for EM add-on - which may be why we're running into walls. Any additional info still welcome!

Glad you picked up a copy of the book. If you want to know my theory as to why SAP EM is not big just let me know.

Did you check the link [http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SCM/SAPEventManagement] which has a link to blogs to configure an end to end SAP EM scenario:

These are still relevant in the ECC installation. Also check the one u2022SAP Event Management - Generic Extraction Application Interface which deals with the way you could extract data from ECC without doing the coding.

Thanks for that last bit on the extraction. I have been browsing since SAPPHIRE, but not keeping up on it. I also am in process of upgrading to EHP4 now to be able to play.

I'd love to hear the back-story - I assume it has something to do with the SOA & BPM push - but please let me know. They had a great demo integrating BOBJ BI and EM at SAPPHIRE but EM was not emphasized as much as the BOBJ portion. I saw the benefits right then and grabbed the book!

I just hope EM will continue to be fleshed out as a regular component - in some form or fashion - and not dwindle away.

Hello Ed,

the course number is SCM663. I found only classroom courses for 5.0. For 7.0 there was only an E-Learning available.

Try to search with Event Management.

A lot of infos about SCEM are available in the Service Marketplace under quick link /SCM and then Event Management.

Thanks for the course number. Searching on that phrase takes patience - with all the old HR EM stuff.
