Career in SAP for Mech Engg and Training/certification of SAP

Hello Guys,

I’m a mechanical engineer having 5 yrs of experience in Design (R&D). I’m planning to shift my career to SAP, is it a right decision? And will it have a bright future? Also, I heard SAP PP, MM & PM modules are suitable for mechanical engineers. Which module would you suggest me? And coming to the training part, I can’t afford 3L for certification. Can I take training in unauthorized training institute? If yes, will this training useful for grabbing a job? If not, Please suggest me how to take certification at the lowest price.

Please advise! Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Shanmuk

Not sure on costings for your country but you can look into SAP Learning Hub subscription for all SAP training course content for 12 months at a fixed price instead of classroom training. It might provide some flexibility to study part time whilst you work as well as allow you to look at multiple topics to figure out which one you want to certify in. SAP India did confirm a Learning Hub subscription would be accepted but you should still contact them to confirm

Although I'm not from India, I would be wary of unauthorised training providers as to the quality of course content and experience of training. From observation, I see some members mention that were in a batch and the following intake tutoring or leading the class without any real-world experience OR comments of photocopied material that was difficult to read.

Hi Shanmuk,

I would suggest that instead of just believing what anyone said...you just first go through the different SAP courses, see the content and then decide for yourself what interests you! As far as cost and certification is concerned...what you can do is contact your nearest SAP Education partner in India....they offer courses at better less costing and certification. So just google it and find out.

Hello Shanmuk,

Well, and if you strongly decided to shift your career into SAP, then you got to decide which SAP module suits you based on your passion and domain experiences, mostly will suggests you PP or MM, both are fine as you aware of the business process.

Yes, SAP MM is the finest one as a core in Logistics, I.e SCM, most vital in Manufacturing Industry..For your profile you would have been entered into SAP MM Consulting. And, Its fine, adding SAP Logo once certified it will be impressive to firms since its with sound work eperience. Later some time u can go for WM & EWM, it's great to make & to sustain in the industry.

And, let me add some points on your query, In India means, Certification should be through, SAP Authorized Center's or Direct Certification or Self through SAP Tech Ed etc

1) Approach SAP Authorized Center’s and Enrolls for a Training course & Certification:
Authorized Center like: Atos, Lethan Zenovate, Broad line (SEIMENS is no more dealing with SAP certifications).

They will offer you 2 types of learning,

a) Regular Class Room Training(Instructor led)
Fee : 3.5L + Exam Fee* (Applicable Taxes)

b) Online Learning (Self)
Fee 1.9 L to 2.1 L (3/5 Months) + Exam fee (Approximately INR30K and applicable taxes)
Duration 5 months

2) SAP Direct Certification:

Your employer must be either SAP Partner or SAP Customer or have installed SAP but not a SAP Service Provider. You have to work under any of these firms minimum 12+ months on SAP projects , then you can by paying Certification Fee alone..

Kindly respond if need any assistance through sap.justdo at gmail com ,i check and update you about an referral offer, you can make it at low.
