Does my customer really need to upgrade BPC 10.1 for NW 7.5?

My customer is currently running SAP BPC 10.1 for SAP NW 7.4. They were originally told that this version would be okay for their cFin project, but then it was recommended during a service to upgrade the NW stack to 7.5? Is a stack upgrade really required? If yes, then what would be the benefits to this customer? Are there risks to not upgrading to 7.5? Please let me know before the end of the week as I need to get back to my customer.

The biggest risk (as I see it) is the end of maintenance for BW 74. Vadim's recent comments are definitely on point: "in some cases it's better" but not drastically better.

Benefits: PLanning relevant enhancements that may help customer that were delivered with BW 75 ( derived from Upgrade to SAP BW 7.50 V3.7 March 2018 ) :

  1. All existing Planning Add - On ́ s based on SAP BW 7.40 are merged into SAP BW 7.50
  2. Co - Existence of the Standard and the Embedded Planning Model
  3. Planning application kit (PAK) feature completeness with BW - IP
  4. PAK enablement of external Aggregation Level
  5. Enhanced FOX productivity, usability and modularization
  6. Enable InfoObjects as reference data
  7. Access to InfoProvider of type DSO and planning on aDSO

"Can you provide examples of these benefits?"

In some cases it's faster

In some cases badi support is better

In some cases script logic is better

But all improvements are minor! To provide you a list of improvements it's nesessary to spend a lot of time!

If you upgrade to the latest BW 7.5 SP the risk is minimal! And you will have some small benefits...

HI Gloria-

SAP NW 7.4 has an end of maintenance date of 31.12.2020 (SAP NETWEAVER 7.4 PAM) , where as SAP NW 7.5 has a end of maintenance date of 31.12.2024 ((SAP NETWEAVER 7.5 PAM). Upgrading to NW 75 makes good sense from a SAP Support perpsective.

For upgrading details, please refer to SAP note: 2256796 - Using SBOP BC 10.x: Upgrading to NW 7.50 .

Regards,

Sheldon

I've seen this in the PAM, but I need to know if there are not any risks from a project and business perspective if they don't upgrade right now. From SAP Support perspective, how would this help my customer?
