Dear Gurus,

I'm currently having SAP ECC 6 EHP 3 running on HP-UX 11.31. I have connected a external usb hdd for taking the backup. My problem is i'm unable to mount the usb hdd. The hdd is of NTFS format.

Kindly provide me the exact command for mounting the device.

Regards,

    Hi,

You can not mount External USB Disk normally in HPUX. First thing It should not be NTFS.

Follow the below procedure to use External USB disk in HPUX.

    1. Just plug the USB Disk.

    2. Run "sam" tool.

    3. Create New logical volume with VxFS filesystem.

    4. Format it when asked.

Your USB disk will appear as new "LOGICAL VOLUME" in filesystem.

But remember, Backup on USB Disk take a lot of time...

    Regards.

Currently there is no support for external USB hard drives or USB tape devices in HP-UX.

    Check http://docs.hp.com/en/16213/UpdatetoUSBDriverSupportonHPUX11iv3.pdf

...and [USB 2.0 Device Driver for HP-UX|https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=USB2]
