UFL function developed in .NET cut off the formula string

Hello...

I followed the excellent article u201CCrystal Reports For Visual Studio 2005 Walkthroughsu201D, pages 390 to 399 and I created a Crystal Reports UFL trivial function in VB.NET that returns the input string...

The function signature is like this:

Public Function ReturnInputString(ByVal input As String) As String Implements IWSUFL.ReturnInputString

' Return value

Return input

End Function

where IWSUFL is the interface definition...

Everything worked fine, the User Function Library is visible within the Crystal Reports Designer as a new function in the Formula Workshop under Additional Functions...

But when I'm using this UFL function in the report designer to create a report it does cut off the input string to the first 253 chars and the rest of the text does not show up even if I check the 'Can Grow' in the format editor...

Also if I take a look in the 'Browse Field Data' I can read Type: String, Length: 253...

On the other hand I tested this dll function outside Crystal Reports, in a test application and worked fine, does show all the input text and there is no cut off...

Can someone explain where is the problem and why is the text cut off in Crystal Reports?

I'm using VS 2008, VB.NET, Crystal Reports 11 Professional...

Thanks,

Cristian
