No commitment in Sales Order

Hi,

We have one requirement in organization, when ever we create the sales order for the external customers if the stock is not available at that Plant the system should trigger the automatic STO (Stock Transfer Order) to the other plant.

Kindly let me know whether this scenario is possible in SAP or not,If yes what are the steps need to follow for the same in SAP.

Thanks & Regards,

Murali.M

    Hi Murali,

I don't think that it can be done this way in standard SAP.

So, normally you do ATP for the order in one plant. If there's no stock, and you use a planning strategy that transfers customer requirements to MRP (like 40 for example) and define the correct special procurement key, then when MRP runs it will create the stock transfer requisition, which needs to be converted into a STO by somebody.

Alternatively, you may design an enhancement, maybe employing user exits, to do exactly what you are asking for.

    Regards,

    Mario
