Hi,
When loading a flat file using planning function type - "File Upload from AO" and calling it via AO 2.7, I need to fix the value for a specific dimension member and for some pass a dynamic value using input variables from the user, but there is no way to do that currently.
If I mention the fixed values or variables in the RSPLAN filter it still doesn't consider it. The only way to do it is to mention it in the flat file only.
In our case there are a lot of dimensions which are of no relevance to the user and so we do not wish to mention that in the flat file, also the same file needs to be loaded to different 0CALMONTH (e.g.), then there is no provision to pass it as a variable selection.
Please let me know how we can achieve this using the standard planning function and if I am doing something wrong here.
A quick help shall be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Nitin
Hi Edwin,
you can bind a planning function to the filter used in a query or you can use another filter where you can specify the variable for the period. In your use case you should do the latter. The filter describes that data area the planning function might created/change/delete records so if the file contains data that are not contained in the filter you should get an error message.

Gregor

Hi, Have you resolved this? I have the same issue with passing variables.
i.e: I need to load only one period 001.2016, I used this variable in the query but when I load a flat file with a different period 001.2020, it is still loading, I need to restrict and validate the load only for 001.2016.

Hi Nitin - please download the latest SP/patch for 2.7. SP4, I think. It was released a few weeks ago and has several fixes. I hope it fixes your issue.

Hi Tammy,
Thanks for the message, I was just going through one of your other blogs 🙂 . We are already on 2.7 SP4 (2.7.400.87314) but I don't see this resolved or provided as additional functionality. Also, I am not sure if I am using it correctly, so wanted to know if you or others have done this and whether this is an existing functionality to pass fixed / variable values in this planning function.
Regards,
Nitin
