PP PI Interface with Scada

Hi,

We are in a process of integrating SAP system with SCADA.

Here Customers does not want to enter the PI sheet data in both the SAP and SCADA system.

So he wants to interface the systems to enable the updation of data in one system by entering into other.

So if anyone has worked on a similar case please provide me with any documents or the approach for the same.

Regards,

Raj

I had a dream of connecting the ERP system with the SCADA with the PLC and get a real time information.

I have encountered several SCADA solution on SAP, that solution follows like this;

SAP - SCADA - OPC - PLC.

My question is that, why do we need to install the OPC ?

All the necessary information (kg. meter, labour cost, electricity) is already placed in PLC. However, quantities are expressed, kg. meter and hours, kw, in PLC.

So, in order to interpret those into amount we need another device, which is I believe, SCADA.

So, once the all the quantities are interpreted into amount in SCADA we can transfer them into cost centers in SAP.

What is the role of SCADA ? They can get the information from PLC directly and transfer it to SAP ERP.

And also I assume that all the consumption go to the necessary cost centers. Am I right ?

For example;

DIRECT PRODUCTION COSTS $22

Electricity Costs $5

Labour Costs $7

Raw Material $10

Is it working like this ?

Could you explain to me ?

Thanks in advance,

Bayram

Hi,

Your thread refers to SAP MII integrated with plant system,. if you are implementing SAP MII then as per the customer order you can raise the different types of queries like Xacute, Sql, XML etcwith clear specifications for the shop floor to follow the instructions more clearly than the Pi sheets. But before that you need to integrate MES to the plant system.

The question is how to get data out of the SCADA and into the SCADA (assuming that's necessary). One of the simplest and most cost effective ways may be to use OPC. If OPC is a viable method for your SCADA then you should take a look at this web site: [www.opc-to-sap.com]

This should certainly be possible with the PP-PI-PCS interface. Here is a small case study - [http://www.sap.com/turkey/partners/icc/scenarios/pdf/short_pi_pcs.PDF].

Other options include use of a certified partner solution or xMII to integrate the SCADA system with SAP depending on the size of the implementation. Help documentation for PCS & PP-PI integration is here - [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/12/3bbf79504811d182c20000e829fbfe/content.htm]
