NetWeaver Developer Studio NWDS 7.2 on Windows 7 Prof x64

Hello

neither installing NWDS 7.2. from CD nor directly from https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/ce/index.html does work on an x64 version of Windows 7.

It seems the bundled VS-redistributable is only shipped for x86 systems which breaks the installer.

I know the prerequisites explicitly state that only x86 systems are supported but... WTF!

ALL new notebooks and workstations with a decent amount of RAM are shipped on x64.

Is there any way to get it running under x64?

Thanks!

The "offical" installation media with the number 51038237 is

NW CE 7.2 Windows IA64, x64 Inst.master, Kernel 1/4

Where do I have to look for that media?

BTW, installing http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=32bc1bee-a3f9-4c13-9c99-220b62a191ee&displa... prior to NWDS installation and running it in Admin+WinXP SP3-Compat-Mode does work...

Thanks!

Try instaling the 32-bit jdk on windows 7 and then install NWDS. It should work fine.

OK, I assumed that it is clear that you must install JDK x86 for the NWDS to work.

Besides this, I had to install the previously mentioned VS-redistributable.

BTW, NWDS is working fine now after having it started in Administrator-mode several times.

My colleague has to enable the Windows XP Compat-Mode though as he installed it to c:\program files(x86)\nwds.

As NWDS is clearly capable to run under an x64 OS it's just crap to state that its prerequisites are x86 OS only and not mentioning the VS-dependencies. X86 is totally dated on developer machines...

Hi ,

I tried to open the NWDS 7.2 which was download in the link provided in the thread(NWDS_Platform).

I am getting the below pop up

Current JVM

You have to use a JDK as a JVM instead of a JRE

  Current JVM:

    Sun Microsystems Inc. JRE 1.6.0_33

    java.home = C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6

  Supported JVMs:

JDK provided by SAP AG: java.version 1.6.0_07 or higher

JDK provided by Sun Microsystems Inc.: java.version 1.6.0_07 or higher

A JDK is not the same as a JRE. If a JDK is required, a JRE is not sufficient

Could you please help?

I could not find any to make the JDK entry.

I have installed both the J2sdk1.4 and JDK1.6 since i am using the NWDS 7.01 version also.

My system is Windows 7 - 64 bit (C:\Program Files (x86))...

Thanks.

the system variable, JAVA_HOMe should point to the JDK not JRE..thats the issue

make JAVA_HOME=JDK installation folder

Hi Sandip,

Thanks. Though i have set the right path in the environment variable. I need to add it explicitly in the developer studio.

Now I am able to launch.

But No perspective to configure the sld and other stuff.

Am i installing the right set up? I have downloaded NWDS_Platform from the below link.

https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/nw/720/

If you have any link where i can download the NWDS 7.2, please provide.

Regards,

Senthil Kumar S.
