while preparing for an upgrade from CRM5.0 to CRM7.0 we are facing the following issue:
In CRM5.0 marketing planner there you have a functionality to contact specific contact partners to a target group by using custom priorities for the use of different contact partner functions on creating contacts, letters etc.. That means, building a target group containing organisations, creating a campaign and adding the target group. During campaign execution the specified contact partners are getting determined using the target group specific parameters.
In CRM7.0 this functionality is no longer available - and we are about to explore possible workarounds.
One possible solution means to make changes in segmentation and provide data sources that contain a different conversion function to get the contact person GUID instead of the organisation's GUID. So you create a target group containing the contact persons and no longer the organisations. Also it is possible to use the B2B flag to provide organisation adress and contact person's details for follow up processes like output or email.
But at all the process is getting less comfortable and user-friendly than before - and an increasing risk of malfunction. So it would be interesting whether somebody else faced the same problems during upgrade activities and found another, more technical-driven solution for this problem ...
