Hi experts,

I am beginners to SAP-BW I wants to know what is exactly performed internally when we use collapse to compress the data.

I would also like to have links to understand Manage operations for InfoCube and DSO like Rollup/aggregates.

Thanks.

Hi,

Just take a scenario a record is update in several request letu2019s take example

A record create in request R1 5000 Rs.

Again this record changes in request R2 with RS 6000.

Again this record changes in request R3 with RS 5500.

Again this record changes in request R4 with RS 6000.

Now the record exists with Rs 6000 with request R4.

Now in collapse all the request for this data will be deleted and a new request will be generated for all these 4 requests and store this new request in a new fact table called as E-Fact Table.

Hope this description will help you.

With regards

Hi,

As I know about Rollups and Aggregates , when in a cube we have huge amount of data then there is problem of performance in queries. To increase the performance there is techniques use Aggregates and rollups.

Aggregate are the subsets of cube. These are the part of a existing cube.

Just take example.

A company having the 10 offices in India having millions of records.

But as per requirements only the data of office A, B is frequently used out of ten offices .

For this the performance degrades because it only fetches the data for two offices but searches for all the data.

So to increase the performance, we create a Aggregate for these 2 (A,B) offices . This aggregate only have the data for these two offices.

For design of aggregate we use the rollups.

hope this wil help You.

with regards.
