ESS Appraisals

When entering Appraisal data via ESS the end user select Appraisal 2010, they have found that the validity period defaults to 01/01/2011 - 12/31/2011 (instead of 2010). This has occurred for any appraisal created since the second quarter of 2010.

Why is the system defaulting to a date of 2011 (since the second quarter of 2010) but cannot see any obvious configuration. Does anyone know why?

I can see a BAdi that can be used to default the appraisal dates (IMG / Personnel Development / Appraisal Systems / Enhancements / BAdI: Default Period for Creating an Appraisal). This is inactive on the customer system. Is this BAdi used in ESS?
