First, you should not change standard configuration of PD MRP type and set firming type there. SAP standard configuration provides MRP types P1, P2, P3, P4 with firming types already set. Just use them.

Second, take a look at the documentation of "firming type" field:

0 Procurement proposals are not firmed automatically. No firming takes place with this firming type.

1 Procurement proposals within the planning time fence are firmed automatically as soon as their date is at least one day before the end date of the planning time fence. The date of new procurement proposals created in the planning time fence is moved to the end date of the planning time fence. As a result, these new procurement proposals are not firmed.

2 Procurement proposals within the planning time fence are firmed automatically as soon as their date is at least one day before the end date of the planning time fence. No new procurement proposals are created automatically within the planning time fence; that is, the shortage situation is not adjusted within the planning time fence.

3 Procurement proposals within the planning time fence are not firmed automatically. All procurement proposals required to cover the requirements are moved to the end of the planning time fence.

4 No procurement proposals are created automatically within the planning time fence; that is, the shortage situation is not adjusted within the planning time fence.

The above shows that in case of firming type 1 procurement proposals (planned orders in your case) are firmed if they within the planning fence. If a new proposal is generated within planning fence, it's postponed outside to the end of planning fence. Thus your procurement/production plan is protected within planning fence and you still see new proposals that should be processed within the planning fence, but the system will not created automatically new proposals in the planning fence.

New proposals outside of the planning fence are not and should not be firmed automatically in any case. You want to protect and stabilize your production plan within the planning fence but want to stay flexible outside of the fence.

    • Hello

In addition, you should observe that the fixed indicator will not be set by MRP for planned orders firmed by the planning fence. In this case, these planned orders will be only dynamically firm. That means, MRP will consider them as firm, but you won't see the firm indicator in the planned order or in table PLAF.

    Hello,

You can get the relevant documents via Google Search.
instead of changing the firming type in MRP type: PD, in standard we are having MRP type as p1, p2, p3, p4 . You can select based on your business need.

    Hello,

    Please refer SAP KBA

2351191 - How to generate firmed planned order automatically in MRP run

2686041 - Procurement proposals like planned orders are created at the end of the planning time fence if the fixed MRP type is used.

    Hi Pankaj,

As Kumar mentioned that please first check google search and then later post a question because the same topic duplicates in many forums.

In this case, you can use SAP standard MRP types instead of changing the PD configuration. There are nice blogs available with process and screenshots.
