Solman EHP1 SP23 upgrade -- solman_setup

Hi everyone,

We just upgraded the EHP1 SP23 on solution manager. However, I got mixed results regarding to solman_setup. I really don't know if I need to perform the Initial configuration or not. I found from SAP install presentation and it says we only need to perform Initial setup once after installation(so this mean we don't need to do so after EHP1 upgrade).

But from the forum, most people says after EHP1 upgrade, it is necessary to perform both inital and basic configuration, eventhough initial config has been done before.

Also, if our system already got ABAP and J2EE connected, as well as SLD already set up, is that we really don't need to perform Initial setup, or it doesn't harm to perform it again since the system will know it and will not overwrite the initial setup.

Thanks,

Kev,

You need to perform both. one the first screen of the initial setup, select the check box for "update Authorization only" and execute, That should be it for that section. Next Goto Basic Configuration and Import the latest version of OSS note 1405878. If there is a new version, implement it and perform the post processing, Continue n thru the rest of the step and check the all the tasks. If something needs to be done, the system will tell you.

After you run it, make sure you check your scheduled jobs. It creates some new ones, but it also duplicated the pre-existing ones.

Thanks Leon,

So it means, for the Initial configuration, I only need to do the User Administration and for the ABAP and J2EE configuration, I can just skip since it is not a first time installation. And then I can just go to Basic configuration to configure those new EHP1 functionalities. I think I got it.

Thank you so much for your help.

Thanks Sean, I think this would be the case if I run the full setup from Initial configuration again after EHP1 upgrade. If as Leon said not to run the ABAP and J2EE again, I think we won't create duplicated jobs again. I guess this is the case.

Thanks.
