SAP XI - File Adapter, Sender, using FTP

Hi. On a couple of occasions we have encountered a situation where the Comms. Channel effectively stops polling, but no error is reported. Making the channel 'Inactive' and then 'Active' does resolve the issue, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this, if there is a way of preventing it or effectively monitoring for this type of issue? We are using XI , SP 19.

Hi Andy,

check for the timeout option in advanced tab of the adapter. Please check for the link given below.

A likely option is that your connection has timed out. You should configure a timeout: enable the "Advanced Mode" for the respective FTP communication channel in the Integration Directory and add an entry "ftp.timeout"=timeoutSecs.

See SAP note 849089

This type of problem occurs when your communication channel service got locked, you need to unlock this one using visual admin, this will solve your problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. Regarding the communication channel service getting locked, could you explain where I can see this in Vis. Admin, and do you know what causes the lock to occur? Thanks in advance.

We faced this problem often for a scenario. The channel somehow got corrupted.

We copied the channel & created one with a different name. Now it's working fine.

In the Visual Admin, go to Cluster, Services, Locking Adapter and you will see any possible locks there.
