SAP Work Manager 6.3 - 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer integration

We would like to use 3D visualisations in our local SAP Work Manager 6.3 solution. Now we are able to see the VE *.vds work order attachment with right MIME type (application/octet-stream) according to note 222605.

But after the attachment is downloaded to device there is only SAP Visual Enterprise frame with text FileData <filename>.vds and no 3D visualization is visible. No possibility to click on something and start it.

Same problem using standard Agentry Client v70.13.7.3 or Work Manager 6.4.1 mobile application for iOS.

Landscape:

  • SMFND 620_700 0002 SAPK-62002INSMFND Agentry SAP Framework Integration Foundation
  • SMERP 620_700 0002 SAPK-62002INSMERP Agentry SAP Framework ERP AddOn
  • /SYCLO/CONFIGPANEL SAP_WORK_MANAGER_63 Client Global PREF_VE_ENABLED = TRUE
  • VDS document attached to Work Order via ArchiveLink (BDS/GOS)
  • VDS MIME type = application/octet-stream according to note 2226056
  • SMP 3.0 SP08 local installation
  • SAP Work Manager 6.3.1 Agentry application (published as dev)
  • Agentry Client v70.13.7.3 or Work Manager 6.4.1 mobile application for iOS
  • SAP Visual Enterprise Viewer application for iOS installed too for sure
  • iPad mini with iOS 9

I understand that in standard Agentry Client v7 there is no default integration without SDK probably. But new Work Manager 6.4.1 mobile application should be Agentry Client customized by SAP with 2D/3D VE files support implemented. Does anyone have the same problem?

The base product does include support for what you highlight (assuming you have licenses for the associated products). You just need to configure the settings within Work Manager to activate it. In this case part of activating those features also means you need to build a branded client that includes the necessary libraries that the Work Manager application will call from the associated product.

These are not included by default for two main reasons.

  • For licensing reasons those libraries are not distributed with the Work Manger product and must be obtained separately
  • Since not all customers will utilize those features, they are not included by default to keep the application size to a minimum

Hope that helps clarify it.

For all of the clients and versions of Work Manager, you will need to build a branded client and include in that the Visual Enterprise SDK. Even the WM client on the app stores does not include this by default. For each of the platforms you can take a look at the SAP EAM and service mobile app SDK from the marketplace and the associated guide for details on how to build the client with the necessary VE SDK.

Dear Bill,

thanks for your explanation. So it means that this information on iTunes store for WM client app is a bit misleading.
