The use of tablespace PSAPSR3DB during PI dual stack upgrade and in general

Hi there guys,

I ran into a bit of a problem and I'm not to sure how big it is actually.

I am busy upgrading my Dual Stack PI system from 7 to 7.11 when my tablespace PSAPSR3DB filled up.

First of all it's strange that the installer check and advised on a couple of tablespaces but not this one...

My questions are as follow:

1) What is this tablespace used for during the normal run of the mill day?

2) What is it used for during the upgrade?

3) Will the fact that it ran out of space during the upgrade (before downtime phase) have any impact on my production data that came in from external applications?

Thanks

Henco

1) PSAPSR3DB tablespace is present in all java stack systems (including dual stack such as PI.) It corresponds to the same functionaliy for JAVA database as PSAPSR3 for ABAP.

2) During updrade of dual stack system, even java objects get modified/created. This would make this tablespace grow.

3) If you have run out of space in this tablespace, obviously your upgrade should halt at that point and as soon as you increase the space, it will go ahead. Even SAP system would be frozen for the time being. So, data requests coming from external systems are most likely to timeout. Once you increase the tablespace, you can trigger the data transfer again from external systems.

Hope this helps

Cheers!!
