Hello Experts,
We are on XI 3.1 sp3.
We have build a custom hierarchiy in the Universe. Year -> Month -> Week
In the WebI query panel we have Year and Key Figures. In the "Scope of Analysis" we have Year -> Month - > Week.
On the WebI report, we have activated "Drill" .
This works fine and we are able to drill based on the hierarchy. When we execute the report, it takes a while for fetching data, but once the data is retrieved, on drilling, the data iis immediately available. The BW database is not accessed again.
The "Latest improvements to SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 delivered with Service Pack 3" document refers to the "Query Striiping" property" which provides an ability to fetch only data which will be rendered or displayed to the User.
When we activate "Enable Query Stripping" on the WebI query properties as well as WebI document properties the observation is that even though we have "Drill" activated with the "Scope of Analysis" defined, NOW every time we drill on the hierarchy, the system goes back to BW to fetch the data. We can verify this by checking for the user in SM50.
Would it be correct to say that the "Scope of Analysis" functionality is lost when "Query Stripping" is enabled? Is this by design?
Any help would be appretiated.
Thanks for your help.

The scope of analysis functionality will limit the navigation path for your users. In your case this is not obvious since you have added the entire hierarchy in the scope of analysis. Unless your users are authorized to extend the scope of analysi, the navigation path (hierarchy drilling) will be limited by your defined scope of analysis.
For sure query stripping cancels the prefetching done based on the defined scope of analysis. But this is more like a side-effect.

It is true becuase Query Stripping goes to BW to fetch only selected data.
It refreshes only the query that is directly related to the report.
