PLD Best Practice Query

Hello all,

When using PLD to create invoice line headings that are not available by default (i.e. row discount by amount rather than %), is it best to bring in the fields needed to make the calculation as hidden fields and use a formula field to create the output?

Are there any (better) alternatives?
