    new_date = |{ date+4(2) }/{ date+2(2) }/{ date(2) }|.

    You should not format date for display by yourself in ABAP coding. In your report just use internal date format and SAP will take care of date formatting during display according to user's setting in SU03:

    Let the system do its work as designed!

    For displaying in LPS(List processing screen) with write statement

    use write /(10) lv_var 1 using edit mask '__/__/__'.
