SAP GUI for Java 7.30 rev10 -- can't add a new connection

Hello,

I've installed SAP GUI for Java 7.30 rev10 on my Ubuntu 18.04 distro and the installation completed without errors.

The problem is that I can't add a new connection. I've found some resources online to enter description and then go to the Advanced tab and enter the connection string there.

However, I can't enter any text in any of the fields.

I'd really appreciate any pointers to find out what went wrong.

Kind regards,

Sebastjan

Hello Sebastjan - please see https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/ATopics/SAP+GUI+Family - 7.30 has been out of support for almost 4 years; I recommend updating to 7.50 latest patch and trying again

Hello Tammy,

thank you for the information provided.

I now have 750 installed but after running it I get:

I'm using

openjdk version "10.0.2" 2018-07-17
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 10.0.2+13-Ubuntu-1ubuntu0.18.04.4)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 10.0.2+13-Ubuntu-1ubuntu0.18.04.4, mixed mode)

I have also installed opejfx but the problem persists. Any ideas?

Kind regards,

sebastjan

So I've noticed the opnejfx is only installed under java-8 and I've tried the simplest thing of droping the javafx.properties file to where the SAP GUI 750 requires it and it works 🙂

Hope this helps someone else as well.

Hello Sebastjan,

Dropping the javafx.properties file to the desired location will only make the check on startup happy. However later every screen requiring a html control will result in an ABAP dump.

For running SAP GUI for Java on Java 11 and OpenJFX, please refer to chapter "5.1 Running the SAP GUI for Java with Java 11" of the documentation for how to install correctly.

Best regards
