ATP process in IBP vs SAP S/4HANA

Hello experts. As far as I know functionalities of SAP APO GATP will be fully covered by S4/HANA and not by IBP. My question is related to the functionality of IBP in this situation. IBP can give a confirmation date and quantities for each order thanks to the Response module.

So, in case we are using IBP Supply and Response module, what are the possible cases in which we could have the need to use an external system for the ATP process such as APO GATP or AATP of SAP S4/HANA?

Thanks for your help,

Gaurav

Hello,

Functionalities of SAP APO GATP till date is not fully covered by S4/HANA AATP. SAP APO gATP capabilities are partially available in SAP S/4 HANA advanced ATP (S/4 AATP).

Usage of Integrated Business Planning (IBP) as a part of S/4HANA

IBP for Response management requires master data, transactional data, and configuration data to work. After the planning runs the results from response management have to be send back to SAP ECC. This integration step have to be done by using the OpenAPI.

The OpenAPI sends data through an SDI (smart data integration) connection, which connects the source system by using an appropriate adapter

Please refer SAP help document "Integrating with External Systems" ifor response management

SAP ERP, supply chain integration add-on

Please note that some adapters require certain database licenses.

The following Object type can be send back to the source system through the OpenAPI:

•Planned orders

•Purchase requisitions

•Stock transfer requisitions

•Sales orders (only confirmations)

The data is transformed into a simplified format and stored in replication tables in SAP ERP; these simplified tables are transferred to IBP using the OpenAPI interface via SAP HANA Smart Data Integration (SDI). The transferred data is then available for use in order-based planning.

Planning processes in order-based planning are typically tightly integrated with ERP/ S4 Hana.

Please refer SAP note 2316969 - OpenAPI: Template for the integration of IBP results back to SAP ECC

Ok thanks Rupesh,

Very helpful. And in case I don't want to integrate data from IBP to S4?

I know that if I run the "Order Confirmation run" process with the Response module I can also have the calculation of the Confirmed date and quantity for each order directly in IBP. Do you see any critical point on running ATP process inside IBP and not integrate it with external systems?

Thanks

Gaurav
