When material types 1 is uploaded and number range is say 1-1000, system will assign for first material type say there are 500 of them 1-500, then when you upload second material type and say there are 300 materials, system will give them 501-800 numbers as both material types are following the same number range.

Number ranges cannot be same in the system. So in above case, ROH will be given 1-50, then in FERT you will get error, or system will automatically give it range 51-100. Its better not to input the number range with internal range assignment. Let the system give the numbers to the material master record.

If external range is also assigned to the same material types group, then you can have closer number ranges but 2 MMRs can't have same NR.

you need to have a mapping table: old material number - new material number.

this should be the result from material master load.

In easy implementations you usually store the old material number in field old material number of material master table MARA.

When you load stock, then your extract has the old material number, in the migration program you then read the old material number from the extract and use it to lookup MARA-BISMT to get MARA-MATNR (new material number).

Then you post your stock with this new material number.

Alternative you can do an download of mara (just 2 fields MATNR and BISMT) and add the new material number to your stock extract in Excel by using the formula VLOOKUP.

Stock load is much later than material upload, so you do not need to bother about a material type anymore.

Hi,

Can u make your question more clear , as your are uploading material stock then you must give the material code and according to that material code the stock will be updated as you have same number range for two material type but only one material code can be created with one of the two material type you will not have same material code with different material type it is not possible.
