Can not open MS Office 2007 file (e.g. docx) attachments in SRM 5.0

Hi,

In our SRM 5.0 environment, some users are not able to open MS Office 2007 file attachments without saving it first. We have tried with different desktop users, with Window Vista, Window 7, Window XP, and with a variety of IE brower versions, but we are not able to identify which combination surely can reproduce this issue. The symptom is as follows:

1. Click on a docx attachment link in a business document, e.g. Bid Invitation, from the ITS front end

2. A pop up shows up asking if the user to confirm "Do you want to open or save this file" with "open", "save" or "cancel" buttons

3. Click on "Open"

4. Another pop up shows up asking "Do you want to save this file" with "save" and "cancel" buttons only, stating at the bottom of this popup: "The file you are downloading cannot be opened by the default program. It is either corrupted or it has an incorrect file type. As a security precaution, it is recommended that you cancel the download."

The file certainly is not corrupted and opening the file after saving it showed no errors.

Has any one of you experienced anything like this and if so, could you share your experience?

Thanks.

I am not sure if this note can help

SAP Note 1381247 - SRM approvers are unable to open docx attachments

Thanks. This is a good note. We applied it and resolved another docx related issue some time back. So unfortunately it didn't help us this time around for this issue.

Hi Jay,

Have you been able to resolve your issue? We would like to extend the file types the docserver has by standard. Would you know how?

Kind regards,

Tim

Indeed we have. We implemented the following notes and at least one of them managed to resolve the issue:

1364402 - SBWP: Opening attachment for work item (4-digit extension)

1259970 - Processing file formats "DOCX", "XLSX", "PPTX", and so on

1237688 - New Mime Types for Microsoft Office 2007 in KPro and ALR
