SAP Data Services multiple log sub-directories

We are running DS42. SP3 on solaris repository databases are Oracle.

When I execute a job in Designer, the monitor and trace log files appear here:

$LINK_DIR/log/<job_server_name>/<repo_db_name>__<repo_schema_name>/

When I execute a job from the same local repo through the management console, the logs go to a different sub-directory, with the repo database host name included in the path, eg:

$LINK_DIR/log/<job_server_name>/dbsrv01.ourco.co.uk_<repo_db_name>__<repo_schema_name>/

Does anyone know why this is, and how it can be configured so they all go to the same place?

The consequence of having 2 is that logs for jobs executed through the client aren't visible through the console.

Hi Ewan,

Could you please check the Job server used in client tool and management console both are same, Ideally when you map a repository to a job server it will create a sub-folder under job server folder hence after job execution all files will placed in sub-folder of job server.

For e.g: -

Job Server Folder Name:- BODS_JobServer_DEV

Sub-Folder: - DS_DEVELOPER1

Files: -

  • Error_xxxxxxxxx_xxxxx.txt
  • Monitor_xxxxxxxxx_xxxxx.txt
  • Trace_xxxxxxxxx_xxxxx.txt
  • Application logs

If that is not the case delete repository details from job server do a cleanup of all those sub-folders and again add the repository to a job server, if it was cluster environment please do the same.

I hope this will help.
